Have you ever seen an AI Agent dance with its human partner and felt goose bumps? Yeah, me neither. What about two AI Agents? Still no, right? I think it’s because dancing is an inherently human function. It serves no other purpose than to create flow between the dancers and magical feelings in the hearts of those watching.
And what does AI have to do with dancing? Well, as we are working alongside our clients, I’m learning more about how hard the dance steps feel between AI systems and the humans in an organization. In fact, it seems that many midsize organizations are doing their best to keep up, but there is no intentional choreography for impactful adoption. And the picture is even bleaker for organizations who have had to shrink in the past 12-18 months. They have invested in AI and know the results are possible, but something seems to be missing in the spaces between where the system moves and the humans take over. Some gains are being realized for solo dance pieces. Unfortunately, when the other dancers join the stage, it feels like watching a bunch of 5-year-olds at a recital. It’s cute, but it’s not exactly Broadway-magic. Unless one of those 5-year-olds is yours, it’s not really a moment worth capturing (Yep, I said it ).
I’m noticing that many of these midsize organizations are struggling with how to overcome this problem. People are feeling more and more overwhelmed as time passes and the problem is not solving itself. This particular part of the problem doesn’t require a technical fix because it’s not a technical problem. Forcing your people to use more AI Agents won’t help. The problem is lack of flow in the spaces between. It requires a human fix because it’s about the dance.
Organizations want to feel like mature dancers, bring in the scale of revenue that Misty Copeland brings in (compared to a cute (but ineffective) 5-year-old) and have the kind of impact that feels like you’re changing the landscape. It’s not possible to achieve that level of organizational maturity with systems and people who don’t flow together. That kind of flow requires intention, clarity, care, and purposeful steps. It requires, not just the best AI systems, but also the change management support to connect the dots between your systems and your people. It’s about the space between.
Strategy Doula works in exactly this space. In our work, we are noticing that engaging your people at a bodily level is a way to help bridge that gap and ensure that your organization is able to realize the full value of your AI system investments. Our work weaves together your strategy, the science of behavior change, and somatics (where your people pull from the best parts of themselves). Our way of working helps your humans bring their best selves to work. With us, the dance can feel magical again.
If you are in a midsize organization that is moving through a period of transition and you are feeling challenged by how you, your team, or your organization are adopting AI, we can help.
